Empower the Force of Love
Sometimes relationships bring out the best in us. Other times, relationships bring out our worst. If we can embrace our worst, allow it to emerge into the light, take responsibility to move beyond our anger and betrayal, wounded egos, and broken hearts, we find that the best can re-emerge in grander and greater ways.
It is like a coating of algae covering the lake's surface, blocking the sunlight and choking the plants below. Until the algae is revealed and skimmed off, the plants underneath the water cannot thrive. Similarly, when we are in the midst of our "worst" selves, we have the opportunity to recognize, acknowledge and heal the fear that creates these behaviors. This makes it possible for the best in us to grow and expand beyond what we have known before.
Many of us believe that everything, without exception, is orchestrated for our highest and greatest good. As such, people come into our lives to strengthen our Soul's presence and remind us of our power to love and be loved. Everyone in our lives, whether dressed as the lover, the sibling, the neighbor, the parent, or even the furry cat, are all here to love and support the best in us - the God in us - whether they consciously know it or not. This is true even when that person is dressed as a "villain." Relationships are designed to strengthen and expand on this healing power. The way we come together may appear to be unloving, but appearances can be deceiving. As children, we are cautioned in the bedtime story to beware of the wolf in sheep's clothing. As adults, it is perhaps more important to be-aware of the sheep in our lives dressed in wolves' clothing.
When relationships rupture or hit rocky times, we often react with a myriad of emotions that fuel one another - disappointment fuels anger which fuels fear... On and on it goes, like throwing wood on a fire while expecting it to go out. Through prayer and conscious, intentional reflection we can shift our focus and expand our understanding. Instead of reacting to the behavior of the other person, our job is to trust what life is teaching us "about ourselves" and to listen to the messages from our emotional body. It is our job to trust life and to grow through willingness.
Throughout relationship experiences, pray that your capacity to love increases and that your heart grows big enough to encompass all that life has to teach you. Underneath every interaction you will find love desiring to be expressed. Ask that love lead the way.
All my interactions are fueled by love
